Hello Runners!
I think today (Saturday May 31) is exactly what TJ's Running is all about. Some of us ran, and slayed the River Run, a few of us made the drive to the El Dorado Dam for some hill training, and the rest of us ran along the river and had a wonderful breakfast afterwards. TJ's is a FAMILY and even when we are not together, we support each other from afar. As we approach the one year anniversary of TJ's Running, on behalf of Coach Tony and the rest of the Board, THANK YOU for everything!
The week ahead will be a special one as we have an additional gathering on Wednesday, June 4, AKA Global Running Day! We will meet at Fartlek's with several other running groups for a relaxed, no pressure run. Keep in mind, it's River Fest week so parking may be difficult. Additional details to follow in an upcoming email and/or Facebook post.
Since we will be at Fartlek's on Wednesday, we will have another pub run on Thursday from a brand new restaurant! The former Hurricane's (at 13th and Tyler) is now Todd's Creole Kitchen and it just opened up a few days ago.
Don't forget to register for the 2025-2026 running season and be entered to win a prize! No, you do not have to be present (at the party) to win. Also, please RSVP to the party if you have not yet done so, and be on the lookout for a sign-up sheet to share what you are bringing... it's a potluck party (and BYOB) but please do not feel obligated to bring something. Since it's 7-10 p.m. we will probably have a good variety of snacks and apps.
And finally... the upcoming training session will be a little different than the past. While the exact details are TBD, on Tuesday and Thursday all groups will do the exact same training. The mileage/running time will all be the same, but the effort will depend on your training and goals. It will be something like easy (I just enjoy running with the family), moderate (I want to maintain and/or improve), and hard (I have lofty goals I want to achieve). Saturday mileage will depend on your race level, 5K, 10K, half, and full marathon(s).
Cheers! And have a wonderful week - Coach Jake and Coach Tony
