Welcome to Race Week (4/28 - 5/4)

Hello Runners!

Welcome to race week! Coach Tony and I are SO PROUD of every single one of you, and we KNOW that you are going to SLAY your race. You ALL have put in the work/miles, in freezing cold temps, in windy and wet conditions, in warm and humid conditions, at times when you weren't feeling the best, and at times when you were tired... YOU ARE READY!

Remember, set three goals going into your race. A goal that you feel comfortable achieving, a goal you will achieve if everything comes together, and an ALMOST unreachable goal.

Race week nutrition advice: increase your protein intake this week (lean, red meat, chicken, fish, etc) and complex carb intake (pasta, rice, potatoes, etc). Decrease your dairy intake, especially milk and cream. And HYDRATE like a boss including less alcohol and coffee.

Good news! You can NOW register for another year with TJ's Running! And anyone who registers before our end of session party on June 13 will be automatically entered to win a BIG prize. You do NOT need to be present at the party to win.

  • Mon April 28: core and lower body with stretching (on your own)
  • Tue April 29 – 6PM: Collegiate High School, 9115 E 13th St N, Wichita, KS 67206, all groups: something fun, I promise
  • Wed April 30: core and upper body with stretching (on your own)
  • Thu May 1 – 6PM: Bricktown (West), 2142 N Tyler Rd, Wichita, KS 67212, all groups: 1-3 miles at a moderate (3-4 effort) pace Route Link
  • Fri May 2: 1-3 mile shakeout run at an easy (1-2 effort) pace (on your own)
  • Sat May 3 – 9AM to 5PM: Packet pick-up and expo at Century II (no running! stretching only)
  • Sun May 4: Race Day! Prairie Fire 5K and half marathon
