TJ's Running
March Newsletter
Welcome to March where the number of races to enter grows dramatically, Daylight Saving Time begins, the afternoon runs can turn sweaty, and the wind often gets out of control. This is a big month for TJ's Running as we are hosting a run of our own, and we have been invited to participate in another city-wide event.
Our annual 4X4X48 run starts on Friday, March 6 and continues through Sunday, March 8. What is the 4X4X48? It's a spin-off of the David Goggins Challenge where individuals run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours! We use this ultimate test of endurance to raise money for charity and this time around every dime goes TJ's Running Inc which will help fund our very own 5K next month (more on that below). There is still time to register as an individual, or part of a team… if you have any questions, please let us know. And if you don't want to and/or cannot officially register, our Saturday morning run on March 7 will be part of the fourth leg of the event so you can at least get a taste of the craziness!
On Sunday March 22, one of our new sponsors, SCHEELS is hosting a special 5K for all the local running groups! In addition to a friendly 5K run, there will be a DJ, prizes, food, special sales on running gear, and so much more. And the best part… all of this is FREE! Stay tuned for more information. And with SCHEELS as one of our sponsors this year, they will be giving us $1000.00 in running gear to give away to you, and all TJ's members will receive discounts on selected items throughout the store!
Speaking of races, most of you know that we are hosting our own 5K on Saturday, April 18 at Tanganyika! This will, hopefully, become an annual event and the biggest, best 5K race in the area! If you did not know, Tanganyika will be expanding over the next few years with plans of adding a wildlife park with mini Jeeps and an adjoining hotel! How amazing would that be… having our 5K at a growing wildlife park and hotel rooms available for out of town guests! We need runners, volunteers, and sponsors to make this run shine. Please help in any way that you can, and as always, let us know if you have any questions.
Don't forget, your membership to TJ's Running is valid through June 30, 2026, so there is no need to renew your membership now. Starting around June 1 you will receive an email directly from runsignup on how to continue your membership with TJ's Running. However, if you have a friend, family member, colleague, etc. who is looking for some running advice or wants to be part of a running group, we would love to have them join the family and they can do so at any time at runsignup.org/tjsrunning
