Hello Runners and Walkers! Welcome to week 9 of your training session. As you're about to see, the schedule below is a little bit different format. Please make sure you read it very carefully so you don't miss anything. If you have any questions about it, just ask. We'll do our best to answer you.

    Within the next few weeks, we will venture away from our locations schedule. Changing things up just a bit, we will head south to Derby for a "hill training Saturday Long Run." A little birdy just said that there may be a little breakfast involved or a discount at a nice little coffee shop. Keep your eyes open for more information.

    Next week's weather appears to be a little closer to seasonal. Even though the temps will be about 5-10 degrees cooler, it's no time to back off your hydration. Make sure you are getting plenty of fluid on a daily basis.

    There are two local races this week: 8/22 – Mulvane Old Settlers 4 mile or 1 mile. 8/23 – Summer Sizzler, Goddard, 50 mile, 9.3 mile, 10K, 5K.

On your own: core and lower body with stretching.

Tuesday, Aug 18 - 6:00PM

All groups – 30 minutes. Start with 1 minute recovery, then a hard segment at 7-8 effort, then repeat: 5K – 100; 10K – 200; Half – 400; Full – 800.

Wednesday, Aug 19

On your own: core and upper body with stretching.

Thursday, Aug 20 - 6:00PM

5K/10K/Half/Full – 30 minutes of intervals (recovery effort 2 minutes, then push 30 seconds).

On your own: core and lower body with stretching.

Sedgwick County Park Ext Off - 7001 W 21st N (Northeast parking lot off of 21st)

5K (7:00 AM) – 3 miles: follow the route for 1.5 miles then return to the start; 10K (7:00 AM) – 4 miles: follow the route for one (1) loop; Half (6:00 AM) – 11 miles: follow the route for two (2) loops + go out 1.5 miles and return; Full (6:00 AM) – 16 miles: follow the route for 4 loops. Two loops or more, switch directions after each loop. View the route on Garmin Connect.
